Sycamore Street planning application update

A planning application for a change of use for land off Sycamore Street in Blaby village is now live after further information was received.
The initial application had been submitted to Blaby District Council on 22 August but required additional documentation for it to go through the planning process.
The proposal seeks retrospective planning permission to allow the standing of a static residential caravan as well as two car parking spaces and entrance gates.
The site was subject of a previous planning application for two Traveller pitches, together with hardstanding and utility/dayroom facilities.
This bid was refused in May 2020 and also dismissed in 2022 when sent to the Planning Inspectorate on appeal. Trees which had been removed during this time were replanted.
The new application with planning reference 25/0723/FUL will go through the Council’s normal planning process with a 21-day consultation period starting today, Tuesday 9 September.
It is now live on the Council website and residents and interested parties will be able to comment on the application here by searching the planning reference above.
Councillor Mike Shirley, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Strategic Growth, said: "The initial planning application was submitted on 22 August but was missing some of the relevant information for us to take it through the usual planning process straight away. We now have that information and will consider it in due course."
