Lottery anniversary special

Love Blaby Lottery Celebration

The Love Blaby Lottery is marking its eighth anniversary this February and we are running a special promotion to celebrate after raising almost £250,000 since 2018.

As well as offering players prizes up to £25,000 we’re giving lottery good causes the chance to win an extra £500.

The prize is open to new good causes joining the lottery as well as existing good causes who increase their supporter and ticket numbers during the promotion period Monday 26 January to Friday 27 February.

Launched in February 2018 to complement the Council’s long-standing grants scheme, the lottery offers a fun, flexible and sustainable way of fundraising for voluntary sector organisations that serve residents in the District.

Almost a quarter of a million pounds has been raised for local good causes since its launch with more than £55,000 paid out in cash prizes.

Currently 46 organisations from across the District are signed up to benefit from the lottery. Tickets cost £1 a week to play and supporters can choose which cause they want to support.

With 60p from every £1 ticket going to a good cause and weekly prizes up to £25,000, it’s a win-win for everyone. The anniversary draw is on Saturday 28 February.

Tim Wragg, a long-term supporter and chairman of one of the registered good causes, Blaby Mind Matters, said: "My wife Ros and I have both kept the same numbers annually since the lottery first began. It is such a good lottery in that it supports local charities and causes of all different types, and we can wholeheartedly say the money raised goes to help and support the work and services provided in the local community. Love Blaby Lottery is a ray of sunshine."

Councillor Nick Chapman, Blaby District Council Portfolio Holder for Community, said: "We are incredibly proud of our lottery which gives our local good causes a boost every single week. The anniversary promotion will offer a special bonus so we’re encouraging people to sign up, play and support the organisations which make such a huge difference in our communities."
