Update on the Local Plan Timetable

Blaby District Council Local plan

We want to keep you updated on our progress with the Local Plan and let you know about a change to the timetable.

The Plan was due to go to Full Council on 14 April, where councillors would have been asked to approve it for the next stage of consultation, known as Regulation 19. Unfortunately, we are not able to do this as planned.

Work on the Local Plan was rescheduled after changes were made to the National Planning Policy Framework in December 2024. Since then, we’ve continued preparing the documents needed for the next stage.  One key piece we have been waiting for is important transport evidence from Leicestershire County Council’s transport consultants. We need this information before we can finish two key reports: the Whole Plan Viability assessment and the Infrastructure Delivery Plan.

Until we have this evidence, we cannot complete our work and present the Plan to Full Council.

We know many people are keen to see the Local Plan move forward, and we share that ambition. We are now aiming to take the Local Plan to Full Council over the summer, once the remaining evidence has been finalised.  As soon as we have it, we’ll be able to confirm the date of the Council meeting.

If councillors agree that the Plan can progress, the Regulation 19 consultation will follow and run for a period of six weeks. This will be an important opportunity for residents, organisations and other stakeholders to look at the Plan in detail and provide formal comments.
