Call For Sites for Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Show Persons Accommodation

Blaby District Council is seeking to find land to include in the Local Plan to provide pitches for Gypsies and Travellers.

A Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Show People Accommodation Assessment (GTAA 2022) shows that there is a need for additional sites to accommodate the needs of the Gypsy and Traveller community in the District. In summary, the GTAA 2022 shows a total need for 93 pitches in the years up to 2041 including a need for 41 for the first five years. There is also a small need for Travelling Show Persons plots in the District and for transit sites in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Blaby District must plan to meet this need, as part of the new Local Plan. We are looking at various options to meet this need. This is a call for sites specifically for land for Gypsy and Traveller, Travelling Show Persons and /or transit site accommodation. We have sufficient site options for other uses and will only accept sites being promoted for this use.
