Barking Dogs

Environmental Health investigates complaints involving noise from dogs. In some circumstances, noise from dogs may be classified as a statutory nuisance.

Animal Services can also advise owners concerned about noise created by their dog(s). They can provide advice that can be taken to reduce barking.

If you want to report a barking dog, visit the Make a Complaint about the Noise page and fill in the form.

Complaints

Once a complaint is made about a barking dog, it will be dealt with in the same way as any noise complaint made to the Environmental Health team. Visit the How We Deal with Complaints page for more information.

Should the owner of the dog request assistance after a complaint has been made, we can make arrangements to visit the owner and offer advice.

If the dog owner fails to take steps to reduce the noise, further formal action may be taken.
