Help after Storm Henk

Amy Street, Braunstone Town Flooding Storm Henk

Financial support has been announced by the government to help communities like those in Blaby District which have been impacted by Storm Henk.

The support will be made available through a scheme called the Flood Recovery Framework. This is used in exceptional circumstances to help Councils and communities following severe flooding.

Across Blaby District it is estimated more than 150 homes experienced either internal or external flooding with rivers rising to record levels.

Blaby District Council is waiting for more detail on how people can access the support. As soon as the funding applications become available we will announce it on our webpage: Flooding

We will also send an email to those who we are aware have been impacted by Storm Henk.

If eligible help will be available for:

• Flooded households who can apply for up to £500 cash to help with immediate costs

• Households and businesses significantly affected. They can gain 100% council tax and business rates relief for at least three months

• Small-to-medium sized businesses. They can apply for up to £2,500 from the Business Recovery Grant to help them return quickly to business as usual

• Flood-hit property owners, who can apply for up to £5,000 to help make their homes and businesses more resilient to future flooding. This will come via the Property Flood Resilience Repair Grant Scheme
