Blaby District Housing Strategy 2026-2031: Draft for Consultation
We are consulting on Blaby District’s draft Housing Strategy 2026–2031.
Blaby District Council has prepared a draft Housing Strategy which sets out our vision, priorities and approach to housing across the District for the period 2026 to 2031.
Housing plays a vital role in supporting healthy communities, economic prosperity and individual wellbeing. The Strategy has been developed in response to a range of housing challenges and opportunities facing the District, including housing affordability, homelessness, an ageing population, changing housing needs, housing quality, climate change and the need to deliver sustainable communities.
The draft Strategy has been informed by extensive research, local evidence and engagement undertaken throughout its development. This has included discussions with residents, Registered Providers, developers, partner organisations, stakeholders and council services to help ensure the Strategy reflects local priorities and future housing needs.
The Strategy is built around five key priorities:
- Increasing the supply of homes that meet local needs, including affordable and social rented housing
- Preventing homelessness and promoting housing stability
- Supporting health, independence and inclusive communities
- Improving housing quality, safety and standards
- Delivering sustainable and climate-resilient homes and communities
These priorities will help guide the Council's work and partnership activity over the next five years, ensuring that housing contributes positively to wider objectives around health, wellbeing, economic growth, community resilience and environmental sustainability.
We are now seeking views on the draft Strategy before it is finalised and presented for formal approval. We welcome comments from residents, partner organisations, businesses, community groups, landlords, developers and other interested parties.
Please review the draft document in the links panel and provide any comments, suggestions or feedback by Thursday 5 November.
Your feedback will help ensure that the final Strategy reflects local priorities and provides an effective framework for addressing housing needs across Blaby District over the coming years.
