Social and Community

Socialising is proven to improve wellbeing and help motivate you to get active. Therefore we look to provide opportunities and raise awareness of community focused activities where you can meet new people and socialise on a regular basis.

Walking

Walking is a great way to get active and visit places across the district you didn't realise existed.

Every week volunteers lead walks across various locations in the district. The routes vary each week and it is a great chance to meet new people. All walks last around an hour and are a slow to brisk pace.

The walks take place at:

  • Kirby Muxloe Library, LE9 2EN (Brisk) - Mondays - 11am
  • Braunstone Town Library, LE3 2PP - Mondays - 2pm
  • Stoney Stanton Memorial Fields, LE9 4TQ (Brisk) - Tuesdays - 10am
  • Countesthorpe Library, LE8 5TB - Tuesdays - 11.30am
  • Glen Parva Dorothy Avenue Playing Fields, LE2 9JD (Brisk) - Wednesdays - 10.30am
  • Glen Parva Dorothy Avenue Playing Fields, LE2 9JD (Slow) - Wednesdays - 10.30am

If you are interested in attending a walk you can contact us using the form below or call us on 0116 272 7703

Running

Running is a great way to get active and improve stamina, however sometimes it can be difficult to motivate yourself to run on your own. Therefore we work in partnership with Huncote Harriers Running Club to provide a social opportunity to take part in a variety of weekly runs ranging from Couch to 5k through to club sessions.

For more information or to enquire about attending a session please visit the Huncote Harriers website which can be found below.

Cycling

Cycling is a great way to get active alongside getting to see the wonderful sites the district has to offer.

It is also a great way to commute whether it be to and from school or work.

To find out what routes are available near you visit the Choose How You Move Website.

Sport Clubs

Sports Clubs are at the forefront of our community and are what helps bring friends and families together. If you are interested in joining a new club but unsure what is available, visit the Sport Club Directory as this will be able to identify clubs close to you alongside more information about what they can offer and who you can contact.

If you are a Sports Club and would like further support in helping your club grow whether it be funding opportunities, player recruitment, upskilling coaches or governance advice then follow the link below to our Blaby District Local Sports Alliance page.

The Blaby District Local Sports Alliance prioritise supporting clubs, coaches, instructors and athletes to enhance opportunities within the community.
