Warm Spaces
There are currently no Warm Spaces events running. No final decision has been made about Warm Spaces over the coming few months and this page will be updated when there is further news to share
Warm spaces are places in the local community where people can gather in a warm, safe, welcoming space and be treated with respect and dignity. Warm spaces can be set up to support people facing hardship during the cost of living crisis and can also provide a place for company and friendship.
Over the Winter period 2022/23 Blaby District Council allocated funding to support local groups to either set up as a warm space or expand existing sessions to offer a warm space environment. Each group applied for up to £350 and this covered running costs, refreshments etc. This funding was widely promoted, and the council funded the following groups:
- Blaby Baptist Church
- Braunstone Civic Centre
- Cosby Community Library
- LFE Community Library
- Littlethorpe Village Hall
- Kirby Muxloe Library & Community Hub
- Lubbesthorpe Hub
- St Andrews Church, Countesthorpe (The Bridge)
Retail store Next kindly donated bedding, duvets, clothing and this was taken by Community Development and Resident Support staff to these warm space venues to further help support residents and their families.
