Hazardous Substances
The Council is responsible for ensuring that regulations regarding hazardous substances are followed by catering establishments, offices and shops.
The effects of hazardous substances can include:
- Lung disease due to dusty conditions
- Skin irritation, dermatitis or skin cancer due to frequent contact with oils or corrosive liquids
- Occupational asthma
- Cancer
Whilst the Council is responsible for catering, offices and shops, the Health and Safety Executive is responsible for manufacturing premises.
