Blaby District Business Grant Scheme
What the Scheme Is For
The Business Grants Scheme supports micro businesses in Blaby District to invest in improvements that strengthen the local economy, improve local centres, and reduce carbon emissions and running costs.
Two types of grants are available:
- Business Growth and Decarbonisation Grant – to help businesses reduce energy use, cut emissions and lower running costs, or to invest in growth focused projects
- Shop Front Improvements Grant – to support visible improvements to trading premises that enhance appearance, accessibility and safety
Who Can Apply
Businesses may apply if they:
- Are micro or small, with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees and no more than £2m turnover or balance sheet total
- Trade from premises in Blaby District
- Have not previously received a grant under this scheme
Tenants must provide landlord approval, with:
- At least one year lease remaining for Shop Front Improvements
- At least three years for Business Growth and Decarbonisation
The scheme will not fund national chains, certain restricted business types, insolvent businesses, or costs already covered by other grants.

Key Facts
Total funding available: £25,000 across both grants.
£20,000 for Business Growth and Decarbonisation - £3000 maximum per business which is match funded
£5,000 for Shop Front Improvements - £500 maximum per business
Maximum one grant per business.
Match funding:
Business Growth and Decarbonisation: 50% match required
Example scenario:
£7000 project
Grant rule: 50% match funding, up to £3000 maximum funding, up to £3000
50% of £7,000 = £3,500
The grant is capped at £3,000
Grant contribution: £3,000 (maximum allowed)
Business contribution: £4,000
Shop Front Improvements: no match funding required
Applicants must apply before any work starts; retrospective costs cannot be funded.
