Annual Accounts

We prepare an annual statement of accounts to give electors, local taxpayers, members of the council and other interested parties clear information about our finances.

The statement summarises:

  • The cost of services we provide in the year
  • How those services were paid for
  • Our assets and liabilities at the year-end

2022/2023

The external audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023 has not yet been completed by our external auditors, EY LLP, due to the complex set of factors contributing to audit delays across the sector. This situation is allowed for by Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015. Please see link below. Therefore, this notification explains, as per paragraph (2a), that we are not yet able to publish our audited 2022/23 final statement of accounts in line with deadline of 30 September 2023, as per paragraph (1). The Audit and Standards Committee will consider the results of the 2022/23 audit, after which we will publish the final audited accounts.

The Accounts and Audit Regulations require the Council to publish its unaudited Statement of Accounts by 31 May following the end of the financial year, along with our draft Annual Governance Statement which forms Appendix A to the document below.

2021/2022

The external audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2022 has not yet been completed by our external auditors, EY LLP, due to the planned phased approach to delivering the 2021/22 audits in light of a variety of complex factors contributing to audit delays in previous years. This situation is allowed for by Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015. Please see link below. Therefore, this notification explains, as per paragraph (2a), that we are not yet able to publish our audited 2021/22 final statement of accounts in line with deadline of 30 November 2022, as per paragraph (1). The audit committee will consider the results of the 2021/22 audit, after which we will publish the final audited accounts.

The Accounts and Audit Regulations require the Council to publish its unaudited Statement of Accounts for 2021/22 by 31 July 2022, along with our draft Annual Governance Statement, which is included in the unaudited Statement of Accounts for 2021/22. The deadline for 2020/21 and 2021/22 was deferred from 31 May to 31 July as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

2020/2021

The external audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2021 has not yet been completed by our external auditors, EY LLP, due to rescheduling the audit delivery timing. This situation is allowed for by Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015. Please see link below. Therefore, this notification explains, as per paragraph (2a), that we are not yet able to publish our audited 2020/21 final statement of accounts in line with deadline of 30 September 2021, as per paragraph (1). The Audit and Standards committee will consider the results of the 2020/21 audit at its meeting on 2 February 2022, after which we will publish the final audited accounts.

Notice of Appointment of Local Auditor 2018-2019

Under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Local Audit (Appointing Person) Regulations 2015, the Council is required to give notice of the appointment of its local auditor for the financial year 2018/19 and the five years beyond. That notice appears below:

Council Asset Register

The register below shows the Council's assets as at 31 March 2017. It comprises a schedule with information on the type of asset (properties), the location - including the parish in which it is situated - and the current status of each asset. We are currently in the process of updating the register.
