Taste the Place launches
Tantalising the tastebuds is the aim of an exciting new campaign to showcase the very best in food and drink across Blaby District.
In collaboration with Visit Leicester, Blaby District Council has launched Taste the Place.
The scheme highlights the top local independent producers, restaurants, cafes, delis, farm shops, pubs and more, to reveal the diverse range of the region’s food and drink providers.
A Taste Adventure Map has been specially produced in partnership with the Great Food Club, the East Midlands number one food and drink guide. See here: Taste The Place (visitblaby.org.uk)
The Map takes culinary explorers on a sensation-filled journey around the District’s award-winning, unique and independent food and drink offerings. The Map is accompanied by a promotional video giving a taste of what people can find locally. There’s also a new dedicated section on the Visit Blaby District website.
The campaign is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and was officially launched on Tuesday 23 January, at Lakeside Bar and Bistro, Stanton Lakes.
As well as the campaign launch the event successfully brought together food and drink businesses from across the District to network, connect with potential suppliers and customers and show off the best of their food and drink offerings.
The event also featured a short presentation from Visit Leicester around the wider-reaching regional campaign and its benefits for both the District and County.
Les Phillimore, Blaby District Council Portfolio Holder for Housing, Community and Environmental Services, said: "There are many outstanding places for food and drink across the County and across our District. We hope this campaign will bring them to public attention, so they not only get the custom and recognition they deserve but that people from far and wide will discover new ways to enjoy fresh and flavoursome local fare."
Gemma Farrands, Operations Manager at Stanton Lakes, said: "As a family run local business, celebrating our 15-year anniversary in March, we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved and we were honoured to host the launch of Taste the Place.
"There was a brilliant atmosphere with people coming together to share everything that is amazing about food and drink in Blaby District. With such fantastic venues and products we’re sure the campaign will spur many more people to come take advantage of what our District has to offer.
"Our thanks go to Blaby District Council and the Visit Blaby team for giving us the opportunity to be part of the tourism partnership. We’re grateful and supportive of all their efforts in trying to generate more business in the tourism sector and encourage more people to visit our wonderful District."
