Soft play launch celebration

Official Opening Of The Soft Play At Enderby Leisure Centre

An open weekend officially launched the new, state-of-the-art soft play at Enderby Leisure Centre this last weekend, Saturday and Sunday, January 13-14.

Courtesy of a £300,000 investment by facility operator Everyone Active, the soft play has been going down a storm with families since opening last month. In just a few weeks the facility has recorded more than 3,000 attendances.

Everyone Active runs the centre in partnership with Blaby District Council. The new facility was opened by Councillor Nigel Grundy, Blaby District Council Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Assets and Chairman of the Council, Cheryl Cashmore.

The soft play is suitable for up to 120 children and includes:

• A four-lane astra slide

• Traverse crawl tube

• Party rooms

• Sports arena

• Separate baby play area

• Separate seating area for parents

James Naylor, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: "The soft play is a superb facility and a brilliant way to get young people active. It has a variety of activities and areas and allows children to engage with their peers in a fun and safe environment. The bonus is this play also improves their physical and mental health."

Councillor Nigel Grundy, Blaby District Council Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Assets, said: "I’m delighted the new soft play facility is proving so popular with families. It was a pleasure to be at the official opening to celebrate this facility. It’s clear it’s already becoming a firm favourite with residents.

"Our thanks go to our partners Everyone Active for their commitment to Enderby Leisure Centre and its continued success. We are always looking for ways to help try and improve the health and wellbeing of our residents and this soft play facility is bringing fun and exercise to a whole new generation."

As a special opening event money from sessions went to Dementia UK, the chosen charity of Everyone Active.
