Guaranteed Interview Scheme

We have introduced a Guaranteed Interview Scheme which offers applicants who declare themselves as disabled and/or are a Veteran or Reservist an interview if they meet the essential criteria of the job profile.

Disability Confident Employer

We are a Disability Confident Employer which means we encourage applications from applicants who declare themselves disabled. As a Disability Confident Employer, we commit to:

  • Interviewing all applicants with a disability who meet the essential criteria of the job profile and consider them on their abilities
  • Provide an inclusive and accessible recruitment process
  • Provide flexibility when assessing people so disabled applicants have the best opportunity to demonstrate that they can do the job
  • Make reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process and during employment

Armed Forces Covenant

The guaranteed interview scheme supports the pledges in the Armed Forces Community Covenant. It can be extremely challenging for Veterans and Reservists to transition to civilian life and in particular finding and securing employment. Therefore, if an applicant declares themselves as a Veteran or Reservist and they meet the essential criteria of the job profile, they will be guaranteed an interview.

Applicants that are currently serving in the Armed Forces and are within 12 weeks of their discharge date and meet the essential criteria set out in the role profile are eligible.

Or alternatively:

  • Applicants that meet the essential criteria set out in the role profile; and
  • The Armed Forces were their last long term substantive employer; and
  • No more than three years has elapsed since they left the Armed Forces

Applicants will be asked to bring with them their Military Services Records pack. This information will confirm the veteran's military service record. Or, bring proof of the applicant's Armed Forces discharge date, if they are invited to an interview.

Please note, the scheme does not guarantee a job for an applicant declaring a disability and/or a veteran/reservist. The recruitment and selection procedures will ensure the most suitable candidate for the job is appointed. This will be based on the selection criteria of the job profile.

We advise you to clearly state whether you have a disability or are a Veteran/Reservist on your application form.
