Equality Objectives

At Blaby District Council equal opportunities has always been a key part of our overall corporate values and aims, which means providing the same level of high quality, customer-focused services for all people regardless of their gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief. We are committed to ensuring fairness and accessibility for all.

The Equality Act 2010

This act brings together all equality strands, (including religion and sexual orientation), within one piece of legislation and sets out our general and specific public duties. Our Single Equality Scheme details our commitment to meet our public duties for each protected characteristic and sets out our action plan to achieve this. More information is available on the Equalities Information page.

Our objectives

We do not simply set equality objectives to keep us within the law, we set them because it is the right thing to do for the community and staff. It also makes good business sense delivering services that meet the needs of the customer by staff that feel supported.

We will report on performance measures and outcomes about these objectives annually, and this information will be published on this web page. We will also review the objectives regularly to check that they are still relevant and to ensure they reflect the current customer needs, resident feedback and data that we have available.

Please view our Equality Objectives outlined in the document below. If you wish to comment or would like further information, please contact us using the form at the bottom of the page.
