Recycling Collections

We provide wheelie bins and bags for the collection of recycling. These are collected on an alternate weekly schedule.

Recycling bin - accepted items

  • Plastic bottles – milk, mineral water, drinks bottles, shampoo, detergent, bleach, fabric conditioners
  • Tins and cans – aluminium drink cans and steel food tins - please rinse these out
  • Sweet/chocolate tins
  • Foil – tin foil, foil trays, foil pie trays, takeaway trays
  • Empty aerosol cans – hairspray, deodorants
  • White food trays
  • Fruit punnets and plastic tubs
  • Yoghurt pots
  • Milk and juice cartons
  • Card and plastic egg boxes
  • Carrier Bags
  • Glass bottles (any colour)
  • Glass jars (any colour, lids on)
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Junk mail
  • Shredded paper (contained)
  • Envelopes
  • Catalogues
  • Cereal boxes
  • Telephone directories
  • Cardboard/cardboard packaging (this should be flattened and presented next to your bin for collection)

  • Black plastic - food trays etc (due to carbon pigments in the plastic)

  • Household/garden/pet waste
  • Crisp bags
  • Video cassettes
  • Broken or plate glass
  • Pyrex/crockery/ceramics

  • Used kitchen paper/tissues
  • Food
  • Batteries (see below for more information)
  • Small waste electrical items (see below for more information)
  • Textiles - clothing, bedding, shoes, accessories (see below for more information)


Batteries are accepted on top of your recycling bin. Please place them in a sandwich bag for collection.

  • Motor bike batteries

Small electrical items and textiles

You can donate textiles and small electrical items to the MIND Charity to raise funds and support people with mental health problems. More information is available on the Charity Collections page.

Replacement Bins

We may charge for a replacement bin if they have been damaged on purpose, if they have been stolen or reported missing. No charges are applied for any damage caused by wear and tear to the bin.

Where does my recycling go?

The recyclable material we collect is taken to Casepak’s recycling facility. For information on where material is recycled please visit the Less Waste website below. You can also view a recycling information booklet from Casepak which is on the link below.
