Street Cleaning

We are responsible for the sweeping of the streets and the removal of litter.

The streets across the district are set up into zones. The more frequently the road in a zone is used, the more often it will be swept.

Gutters (known as channels) are swept four times each year, with main roads swept weekly. Pavements are swept using a road sweeping machine four times a year.

If you feel the appearance of a road has deteriorated and would like to request it to be cleaned, please get in touch with us and we will look to clean this as soon as possible.

The Council is only responsible for public areas and does not maintain private land. If you are concerned about the appearance of private streets, roads or walkways you will need to speak to the land.

Some newer areas of the district may not have been adopted and may still be maintained by the developer. We will tell you if this is the case when you request a street to be cleaned.
