Horse Riding Licence

Anyone who hires out horses or ponies for riding or instruction, must be licensed.

Application process

  • Check that you and your establishment comply with the conditions for hiring out horses see the Canine and Feline Sector Group link below
  • Print an application form see below
  • Sign and return your application form to us along with a copy of your insurance, a copy of your Ofqual level three or above qualification or details of relevant business experience and your application fee payment. See the Table of Fees below for more information
  • You can make payment via card or cheque. Please make cheques out to Blaby District Council
  • After receiving the application we will contact you to arrange inspection of the premises
  • If the inspection of the premises is satisfactory you will be required to pay the licence grant fee, and the license will then be issued. If the inspection is unsatisfactory, you will be contacted in writing and advised that the licence has been refused

Dangerous Wild Animal Licence £225 + veterinary inspection costs
Zoo Licence £960 + veterinary inspection costs
