Waste collections

Our top priority is to continue delivering essential services to you at the same time as maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff.

Advice for households affected by Coronavirus
  • Make sure all contaminated waste items are placed into a plastic bag and tied at the top
  • Please double bag for 72 hours in a place that cannot be accessed by pets or people
  • After 72 hours put the bag in your refuse wheeled bin. Do not put the bag on the kerbside where people could have contact with it
Interacting with the crew

If you are willing and able we would appreciate it if residents can sanitise the handles of the bins before collection.

Please note that our policy of not collecting side waste still applies and all waste should be contained within the bin. This is especially important to ensure our crews do not handle potentially contaminated waste.

If you are having difficulty with your bin capacity visit the Waste and Recycling pages for more information.

Housing

Due to the current Coronavirus situation, the Housing Options Team is changing the way we can be contacted. The Housing Options Team is still available, but we will be conducting interviews over the phone as our offices are currently closed to the public. If you have an urgent housing situation, you can still contact us for advice and assistance on 0116 272 7770 or Housing.Options@blaby.gov.uk

If you are homeless tonight and you have nowhere to go then between 8.45am to 5.15pm please call us on 0116 272 7770 or if you need to contact us in an emergency outside our normal office hours then please call 0870 238 5057.

As our offices are closed we may need you to email documents to us, you can do this by taking a photo of your documents on your phone or tablet and sending it to the email listed above.

We understand that this is a very difficult time for anyone looking to move into their long-term home.  Please be assured we are doing our best to ensure our service continues to be offered to all our customers.
