More about COMMBUS

We are a local community transport service supported by Leicestershire County Council and Blaby District Council. Occasionally, we attend Fetes/Galas and village walk round events in some of our pickup areas to promote our services and attract new interest.

Our organisation is run entirely by volunteer drivers, escorts and office staff who give their time freely to make our customers' lives more independent. We are always looking for new volunteers who are willing to give something back to the community, whether it’s as a driver (who will be MIDAS trained), a bus escort to help our passengers onto the buses or an office co-ordinator to answer all our enquiries and bookings. We also provide full in-house training for all our positions.

Our dedicated members make sure that our three buses which are currently in operation, are regularly serviced and kept in good condition for our passengers' convenience. All our buses have wheelchair or electric scooter access and a tail lift. Our fares are reasonable and vary between locations. We also offer reductions for any bus pass holders.

We cater for passengers who wish to be independent but find using public transport difficult to use for whatever reason. Pick up and drop-off will be from and to your home. Our day starts at 9am where we will take passengers to shopping centres such as Fosse Park or Beaumont Leys. Once arrived at the destination, we allow plenty of time for shopping, coffee breaks or even lunch before the day finishes. Our finish and drop-off time can vary as circumstances may dictate. If necessary, drop-off will include help with your shopping, by our voluntary bus escorts and drivers.

We cover the majority of Blaby District including Braunstone Town, Leicester Forest East, Kirby Muxloe, and many other areas. You can find our full timetable on our website for more information. As well as our weekly scheduled trips, COMMBUS have recently introduced Monthly Friday Specials, which travel to and from a range of different locations such as Wistow Rural Centre and Leamington Spa. These trips are featured in our December Specials and range from £5 to £13 depending on your pick-up location and destination.
