Community Hub

Supporting vulnerable people in your community

We want to make sure that vulnerable people can get the support they need, either from friends or family, volunteers in the community, or partner organisations. Where relevant, help may be available directly from Blaby District Council.

The Community Hub does not have access to funds for household items and does not issue supermarket vouchers or grants for the relief of financial hardship.

The Community Hub is able to assist with the following:

1. Referrals to food banks. You will need to be able to collect your food parcel or have someone collect it on your behalf. We are unable to deliver food parcels to you. Blaby District Council do not provide food parcels directly and we will try to refer you to your nearest food bank. We do not provide an emergency food parcel service and food parcels will only be available when the food bank is open. Depending on your nearest food bank, this may not be for a couple of days. Other organisations are also able to access food banks, if you have a support worker with another agency, they may be able to request a food parcel for you

2. If you are on a pre-payment meter and are in fuel crisis and not able to top-up you may be able to access a fuel bank voucher. You will need to be able to provide a suitable form of I.D. and proof of address

3. If you are adversely affected by the cold weather, you may be eligible for a warm pack as part of our Beat The Chill Campaign. Warm packs are items that may make your home easier to heat.

Please note that our support does not include prescription collection. This may be covered by your local pharmacy. Please contact your pharmacy for more information.

Opening hours

Monday to Thursday 9am–5pm, Friday 9am–4.30pm.
