Funding to bring boost to Blaby

Blaby Town Centre

Blaby Town Centre is set to benefit from Central Government and European Regional Development Funding to help welcome people back to local shopping centres.

Johns Court is the first to benefit from the Welcome Back Funding with a summer look including bunting as well as bumble bee and sunflower decorations. The decorations aim to boost the look and feel of their high streets, to make them as welcoming as possible.

As well as the Welcome Back Funding, the Council is exploring options for the toilets in Blaby Town Centre. With the Council recognising that these need to be modernised and made more pleasant and secure for customers, work is currently being undertaken to ensure that avenues of funding are looked into.

More initiatives will also be coming soon to Blaby Town Centre, including a major Support Local initiative to help the district’s local businesses, and in December a light projection show will take place at Blaby Hall. More details about this will be made available soon.

Councillor Sharon Coe, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Community Engagement and Business Support said: “The installation of the new decorations to Johns Court has been a great opportunity for us to inject a new lease of life into our town centre after a tremendously difficult 18 months for many retailers and shoppers."

The decorations will be up in Blaby Town Centre over the next few weeks, with more information about other initiatives available soon.
