Residents in Blaby District will have the opportunity to access Jobcentre Plus work coaches in Narborough.

The new, extra service will be hosted at Blaby District Council’s offices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and gives those who have a Job centre work coach the opportunity to get advice about employment support, training opportunities, overcoming barriers and more.

Appointments can be made by emailing enterprisingblaby@blaby.gov.uk or calling the Council.

Bringing access to the Job centre into the district is part of the Council’s commitment to ensuring local people get support they need, without jobseekers having to travel into the City Centre.

Councillor Sharon Coe, Health, Wellbeing, Community Engagement and Business Support, said: “Our new service with Jobcentre Plus is a commitment to provide employment support and a range of other opportunities for local people. It is extremely important for us to support residents back into work and give them the chance to find out about opportunities available to them.

“We are delighted to be working with Jobcentre Plus to provide this service locally and we hope that residents establish good links to the service and move on to the many openings this will provide.”

Paul Gisbey, DWP Service Leader for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, said: “Reaching out to our local communities and undertaking outreach services is proving such a valuable service. Working in the community supports some of our most vulnerable customers which I know makes a big difference to people looking for work and seeking support.

“We very much value our partnership with Blaby District Council on this, and other initiatives to support local economic recovery.”
