Community grant's deadline approaching

Countesthorpe Cricket Club receiving a Community Grant

The deadline for the next round of Blaby District Council’s Community grants scheme is fast approaching!

Over £23,000 of grant funding is available to local groups or sports clubs, ranging from £500 to £4,000. A record £90,000 has been made available to support local organisations during 2019/20.

Grants can help to meet any community group’s need, ranging from equipment hire and materials to building refurbishments or upgrades. Grant applications for the third quarter for the 2019-20 year close on Thursday 28 November.

Blaby Methodist Church was awarded a grant of £500 to run a Holiday at Home club during the summer for isolated, older residents. Gill Hammond-Evans, one of the volunteers who co-ordinated the event, said: “It was lovely to see the older folk forgetting their troubles and enjoying themselves. One 90 year old resident said he wished we could do this every week!”

Community Grant applications can be completed online. For more information, including terms and conditions, application deadlines and how to apply visit the Community Grants section.
