Career opportunities at Job Fair

Job Fair March 2023

Hundreds of job, training and career opportunities are on offer from organisations across the area and beyond at the next Blaby District Council Job Fair.

The event takes place at the Council offices on Desford Road, Narborough, on Wednesday 27 September from 3pm to 5.30pm.

Are you or someone you know looking for a new challenge? Perhaps you are interested in a career change or maybe you just need to pick up some training or job advice.

Pop along and meet representatives from local businesses to find out about employment openings from a wide range of sectors including education and care.

You can also speak to the team from Blaby District Council to find out about our diverse vacancies. These include an accountancy assistant, sports and physical activity team leader and housing enabler team leader.

There will be plenty of advice available on those first steps into employment, further learning, training and up-skilling, apprenticeships, volunteering and starting your own business.

Among those organisations promoting vacancies are dancewear firm, Freed of London Ltd, Foxfields Academy and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

Councillor Terry Richardson, Leader of Blaby District Council, said: "This is another chance to pop along to our Job Fair and see what kind of work or training opportunities are available right now. We have a wide range of businesses looking to attract new recruits and numerous experts on hand to provide all kinds of career advice. A priority for us as a District Council is to support a strong local economy. By bringing businesses and residents together we can encourage both to thrive."

Kiera Radford, Diversity Community Engagement Officer at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue will be attending and said: "I’m really looking forward to attending the upcoming Job Fair at Blaby District Council, interacting with local jobseekers, and advising them on the various careers available within Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service – and not just firefighting.

"While we have recently closed our 2023 wholetime firefighter recruitment we are eager to talk to individuals about applying in the next round of recruitment. We also have a wide range of support/non-operational roles at our headquarters in Birstall, so please come and speak to us about the roles we offer. We’re passionate about opening opportunities to individuals from all backgrounds, ultimately creating a workforce that reflects the diverse communities who we serve."

The Council offices feature free visitor car parking and are located close to Narborough train station as well as local bus route stops. Visit: Employment and Skills Opportunities
