Disclosure and Barring Service

Disclosure and Barring Umbrella Body

Blaby District Council is an Umbrella body registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service and offers full disclosure and barring check service on behalf of any business or organisation.

What is a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Check?

In 2013 the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) merged to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBS checks.

The DBS checking process enables an employer to access information from the police and appropriate barred lists. As part of the recruitment process, a DBS disclosure can help determine the suitability of an applicant to work in a post that involves working with children or vulnerable groups.

The administration team are authorised by the DBS to undertake a complete disclosure service.

Our administration team are on hand to provide your organisation with advice and guidance specific to your needs.

A £10 handling/administration fee is charged per DBS applicant to cover administration costs.
