Arts Development

Blaby District Council supports the development of Arts throughout the district by working with a number of partner groups to provide events and opportunities locally.

Active arts

Active Arts are a Countesthorpe based group and have been promoting all things arty in and around Countesthorpe since 1976.

They are an entirely voluntary group and are a not-for-profit organisation. In other words they take nothing out other than the pleasure we get from doing the work, and any profits made get put back to fund the future programme.

A list of programmes and events can be found on the Active Arts Website.

Live and Local

During 2015 Live and Local took over the management of three touring schemes in the East Midlands, including Centre Stage in Leicestershire.

The scheme provides live professional performances at village or community venues. For more information visit the Live and Local website.

Big Country

The Big Country Rural Cinema Network is a community cinema scheme which enables you to show blockbuster or archive films in a venue on your doorstep.

Volunteers within the community select their film, book the venue and sell the tickets and Big Country provides the technician and state of the art equipment to run the screening. It is managed by Phoenix and more information is available on their website.

Creative Leicestershire

Creative Leicestershire is a programme which has been set up to support professional artists, creative free lancers and businesses based in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. You can register on the Creative Leicestershire website to find out about opportunities to support your development.
