European Parliamentary Elections - 23 May 2019

The European Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on Thursday 23 May 2019

If the UK is still in the EU on Thursday 23 May then the polls will take place on that day in the UK.

Polling stations open from 7am to 10pm on 23 May 2019 and a list of polling stations will be published below in due course. You can use our search facility to find your polling station.

If you're an EU citizen living in the UK

If the UK takes part in European Parliament elections on 23 May and you're a citizen of an EU country (other than the UK, Republic of Ireland, Malta and Cyprus) resident in the UK, you can either vote in the UK or in your home country.

If you want to vote in your home country

Contact electoral authorities in the EU country where you're a citizen.

If you want to vote in the UK

You must:

1. Register to vote by 7 May

2. Download and fill in the European Parliament voter registration form (see link below), alternatively complete the form that has been sent to you by our Electoral Services team.

3. Send the form to your local Electoral Registration Office by 7 May

Voter Registration

Please note that the deadline to register to vote for the European Parliamentary elections is Tuesday 7 May 2019.

If you are not registered or you have recently moved address, changed your name or nationality then please visit the Register to vote external link below to register by the deadline. You will need your national insurance number and reference your date of birth and any previous registration details (for example the address of your previous registration if you have recently moved).

Postal Vote Applications

The deadline to apply for a postal vote for these elections is 5pm on Wednesday 8 May 2019. Application forms are available on the Postal Vote page.

Proxy Vote Applications

The deadline to apply for an ordinary proxy vote (where you appoint someone to vote on your behalf) is 5pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019.

If after 5pm on 15th May you are unable to vote in person because of a medical emergency or you cannot attend a polling station for work reasons then you may apply to vote by emergency proxy. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Thursday 23rd May 2019. The change must have occurred after 5pm on the 15 May. Application forms are available at Your Vote Matters external link below.
