County Council By-Election

Cosby and Countesthorpe Division: 12 December 2019

There will be a County Council by-election for the Cosby and Countesthorpe electoral division on 12 December 2019.

The Notice of Election was published on Thursday 7 November 2019 (this triggers the election timetable) and nomination applications will be accepted up to the deadline of 4pm on 15 November 2019.

Poll cards are sent out in advance of poll day to all eligible electors on the register. If you do not receive a poll card this could mean that you are not registered therefore please contact the Electoral Services Team to check your registration status before the deadline of 26 November 2019.

Polling Stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on 12 December 2019 and a list of polling stations will be published below.

You can search for your Polling Station from the link below. You will need to enter your postcode (please note that your nearest polling station may not be your designated station for voting – your polling station details will be confirmed on your poll card).

Candidate and Agents

Information for those wishing to stand at this election can be found on the Electoral Commission website on the link below named 'Candidates and agents information'.   

Nomination packs are available from the Elections Team at Blaby District Council, Council Offices, Desford Road, Narborough, Leicestershire LE19 2EP.

The deadline to receive completed nominations is 4pm on 15 November 2019.

Voter Registration

Please note that the deadline to register to vote at this election is Tuesday 26 November 2019.

If you are not registered or you have recently moved address, changed your name or nationality then please visit the government website 'register to vote' link below to register by the deadline. You will need your national insurance number and any previous registration details (i.e. the address of your previous registration if you have recently moved).

Postal Vote Applications

The deadline to apply for a postal vote for the County Council by-election is 5pm on Wednesday 27 November 2019. Application forms are available on the Postal Vote page.    

Proxy Vote Applications

The deadline to apply for an ordinary proxy vote (where you appoint someone to vote on your behalf) is 5pm on Wednesday 4 December 2019.

If after 5pm on 4 December you are unable to vote in person because of a medical emergency or you cannot attend a polling station for work reasons then you may apply to vote by emergency proxy. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Thursday 12 December 2019. The change must have occurred after 5pm on 4 December.
