We are following government guidance on social distancing and in the interest of everyone’s health and safety we have closed the main council offices to the public and asking office staff to home-work where possible, there may be some temporary disruption to services during the switch over.

Coronavirus COVID-19:  what you need to do

Stay at home

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)
  • If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Do not meet others, even friends or family.

You can spread the virus even if you don't have symptoms.

Support for the Public

People in need of extra support

Are you in need of extra support, or know someone who might need some help?

We have set up a local Community Hub, and are working with a range of partner organisations to get people the help they need during these difficult times.

Visit the Coronavirus Community Hub page for more information and to refer an isolated person or volunteer your time.

The service will prioritise those people who have no one else to help and who are the most vulnerable, for example over the age of 70, have an underlying health condition, families struggling to cope and those people who have received a letter from NHS England stating they are in a priority group.

We recommend sharing this pack within the community where you can to ensure that as many people as possible have the support and knowledge they need at this challenging time.

Citizens Advice Leicestershire is working hard to provide support to local people throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Help is available both online and by calling them. Their website has the latest service information.

Support for Businesses

Closure of Businesses and Premises

The latest instructions from the Government are now available regarding the type of businesses that can and can’t stay open at this time. You must read the information carefully and fully understand the controls that you should be implementing if you are staying open - such as queue control and spacing, limiting numbers of people inside premises and social distancing.

Guidance for employees, employers and businesses

The Government have a dedicated page for employers and businesses, providing advice about the pandemic.

The Business Gateway has set up a dedicated section on its website with links to the latest information including:

Waste collections

Public toilets - Blaby

The public toilets in Blaby have been closed until further notice

Car Parks

Parking Charges have been suspended at all Blaby District Council owned car parks in line with Government health advice to prevent the spread of coronavirus. You will NOT need to get a ticket to park in the car park.

All parking machines will be covered up. Please be aware that all other parking restrictions, for example, on-street bays will be in force. We would reiterate national advice to stay at home unless your journey is necessary.

Health and Leisure activities

Health and leisure physical activity programmes have been suspended, including Steady Steps and Fit to Dance. A full list of the classes is available to view.

Enderby Leisure Centre and the Pavilion (Huncote) Leisure Centre have been closed by Sports and Leisure Management (SLM) until further notice.  Please visit Everyone Active for more information.   The Urgent Care Centre at Enderby Leisure Centre remains open.

Our parks remain open to help residents exercise during the current restrictions, though usage is being monitored and we will close them if footfall is considered too high.  All play areas are closed.

Be Aware of Fraud

Unfortunately, several coronavirus related frauds have emerged, including online shopping and charity scams.  Please follow the advice on to avoid becoming a victim of one of these scams.
