Street Naming and Numbering

We are responsible for the naming and numbering of new or existing streets and buildings in the District.

The correct addressing of a property is important. Postal and emergency services, as well as many organisations and the general public, need an efficient means of locating and referencing properties.

In the process of naming new streets certain guidelines must be followed and care must be taken to avoid duplication or the linking of names already in use.

All the public service utilities must be informed of all new streets and numbering of premises together with the local councils for the specific area.

The costs for street naming and numbering are laid out in the Building Control Fee Charges document. This charge is not applied to developers using our Building Control Service to carry out full Building Control functions on their development.
