Community Transport schemes provide services for people who have difficulty using or accessing public transport. These schemes are provided to help residents remain independent, keep actively involved in community life and reduce isolation.
There are two types of Community Transport scheme in Blaby District. Community Action Partnership runs a Social Car Scheme where volunteers use their own cars to drive someone wherever they need to go. COMMBUS and Braunstone Town Community Minibus both run community bus services that take residents to shopping centres and on day trips.
Charges apply for these services but it is usually less than the cost of other forms of public transport. Community Transport services are supported by Leicestershire County Council.
