Tips to help you stay out of debt:

  • Sign up to pay by direct debit - it's the easiest way to pay

  • Ask us to spread your bill over twelve months

  • See if you qualify for discounts and exemptions

  • Claim Council Tax Support if you are on a low income

What happens if I receive a Court Summons?

Getting into debt means paying more

If you don't pay your Council Tax, you'll end up paying much more. If we have to get a court summons to tell you to pay it will cost you £55.50 Summons Costs and £19.50 Liability Order Costs on top of what you owe.

The summons will show the amount outstanding, the costs incurred and the date and whereabouts of the court hearing.
