After the success of last year, Community Volunteer Week was extended to a fortnight this year and took place between 4th - 15th June 2018. Community Volunteer Week is an opportunity for staff from the Council, local businesses and other partner organisations to give their time and make a positive difference in the community.

This year Everards, the Leicester Marriott at Grove Park, Everyone Active (Enderby Leisure Centre) and the Supporting Leicestershire Families Team from Leicestershire County Council all joined Blaby District Council to help local community projects.

147 individuals combined from Blaby District Council and these local businesses gave a total of nearly 550 hours to help 19 different organisations across the district.

Hilary Comyn – Treasurer of the library said: ‘The four volunteers have done a marvellous job. They were enthusiastic even though it was hard work! This had needed doing for a long time and I’m not sure it would have been completed without the help of the volunteers’.
