The Council collects a number of dogs each year which are not reclaimed by their owners. If a dog remains unclaimed after 7 days then it potentially becomes available to be rehomed. We work in partnership with College Garth Kennels who manage the rehoming service for unclaimed dogs from Blaby.
Before becoming available for rehoming, all dogs are assessed by a behaviourist to ensure that they are suitable for rehoming and to identify the sort of home that would best suit the dog that is adult only, no other pets, etc.
Before being rehomed, a home check will be carried out of the prospective new owner’s property and all members of the immediate family will be invited to meet the dog. Dogs are vaccinated and supplied with an ID tag and may be microchipped.
Should you be interested in offering a home to any of our dogs, please contact the College Garth Kennels directly on 01509 842327 or 07442 535012 or visit the College Garth Website
