Just two weeks after launch, the Love Blaby Lottery has already raised an estimated £13,000 for local good causes.
Following the start of ticket sales in late January, over 400 have been sold across the 30 district-based organisations. This means the estimated yearly total for all tickets has already hit over £13,000.
Promotional events in Fosse Park, Pavilion Leisure Centre and the Whetstone Co-op Superstore showcased those already signed up to benefit from the scheme, including Countesthorpe Judo Club, Enderby Village Institute, and Blaby & District Lions Club. More groups are being added and will be available on the Love Blaby Lottery website.
Tickets for the lottery cost just £1 per week with 60p going directly to good causes. Other prizes include £2000, £250, £25 and free tickets. The first draw will take place on Saturday 24 February.
Councillor Les Phillimore, Community Champion, said: “This is a really encouraging start for the lottery. All good causes that sign up deliver services in the district, so players know that they are directly helping their local residents and community with every ticket they buy.”
Love Blaby Lottery is open to anyone aged 16 years and over. Participants are reminded to gamble responsibly.
