Planning appeals
Summary
If we haven’t
made a decision on your planning application within the right space of time (8-13 weeks) or you are not happy with the decision
we have made, then you can appeal. To do this you need to contact the Planning Inspectorate, the Government Agency set up
to process all planning and enforcement appeals.

The Planning Inspectorate website has two excellent guides which can be downloaded:

Further information
There are strict time limits on your right to appeal and if you make an appeal outside these times the chances are it will be turned away.
The deadline for submitting an appeal is now six months from the date of the application decision letter (2 months for advertising consent or if your application was never determined, 6 months from the date the decision should have been made).
Appeals can take several months to decide and they can be costly. Before considering making an appeal, please contact the case officer that dealt with your application to see whether any changes to your proposal could make it more acceptable.
