4. Background documents
Summary
The
documents that can be downloaded below are the 'development plan' for the District of Blaby (in the case of the Regional Plan
and the Local Plan). The development plan is important because, according to planning law, planning applications should be
determined in accordance with it unless there are other 'considerations' that indicate otherwise.
The Core Strategy is a document which sets out the Council's emerging thoughts on planning policies for the area (including the broad distribution of development between villages). The document has been through a series of stages of production and consultation. The Council consulted on the Core Strategy (Submission Version) for a six week period between 19th January and 1st March 2012. A decision on whether to submit the document to the Secretary of State for examination will be made by the Council on 22nd May 2012. The Core Strategy is not yet part of the development plan for the area.
The evidence used to inform emerging planning documents is shown on the 'related pages' below (under evidence base). This covers a wide range of issues such as housing needs, retail and employment needs as well as assessments of play and open space provision and green wedges.
