Stock Condition Survey

Summary

Blaby District Council, like every other local authority in England and Wales, is required to carry out a stock condition survey as part of their Stock Options Appraisal process. The Stock Options Appraisal process will determine how Blaby District Council’s housing stock will be managed in the future and how improvements will be financed.

Further information

Our stock condition survey was carried out in summer of 2004 by two companies. The survey was split into a traditional survey (properties built with brick) and non-traditional survey (properties built with concrete panels).

FPB Savills have considerable experience of carrying out stock condition surveys across the county and they did a 20% internal and 100% external survey of our Council housing stock.

Curtins Consulting Limited have 40 years experience in property surveying and they carried out a sample survey of our non-traditional houses, flats and bungalows.

Both FPB Savills and Curtins assessed the amount of work that was required to bring council flats, houses, bungalows and maisonettes up to the Government’s Decent Homes.

Housing Services Staff are currently analysing the findings of these surveys and are preparing a programme of works to continue our decent homes standard work. Please click the following link to find out what major capital repairs we did in 2006/08.
