Housing Capital Programme

Did you know that Blaby District Council’s Housing Services and Investment Services teams spent almost £1,563,000 from April 2006 to March 2008 on improving Council homes?

Included in this spending were:

  • £514,708 on new PCVU windows and composite doors
  • £359,000 on replacing wiring and electrical upgrades
  • £397,000 on fitting new replacement boilers and central heating systems
  • £55,000 on new kitchens and bathrooms
  • £47,000 on minor adaptations such as handrails /ramps/keysafes to improve the quality of life for our tenants
  • £117,400 on structural works
  • £51,000 on security works gates / PIR lights / fencing

We are continually working with contractors and tenants to try and improve the quality of the work we do. We currently operate a Considerate Contractor Charter which is the standard we require contractors to achieve while working in Council properties. We also allow a decoration allowance following the installation of gas central heating systems and rewiring upgrades information leaflets are available on line.

Housing Services Staff are currently using the information we have from our Stock Condition Survey to effectively programme our work from April 2005 to November 2008. Please click the link below for more information on our Stock Condition Survey.
