Housing Capital Programme

Did you know that Blaby District Council’s Housing Services and Investment Services teams spent almost £1,563,000 from April 2006 to March 2008 on improving Council homes?

Included in this spending were:

£514,708 on new PCVU windows and composite doors
£359,000 on replacing wiring and electrical upgrades
£397,000 on fitting new replacement boilers and central heating systems
£55,000 on new kitchens and bathrooms
£47,000 on minor adaptations such as handrails /ramps/keysafes to improve the quality of life for our tenants
£117,400 on structural works
£51,000 on security works gates / PIR lights / fencing

We are continually working with contractors and tenants to try and improve the quality of the work we do. We currently operate a Considerate Contractor Charter which is the standard we require contractors to achieve while working in Council properties. We also allow a decoration allowance following the installation of gas central heating systems and rewiring upgrades information leaflets are available on line.
