                           systemWe are responsible for maintaining the Housing Register on behalf of the Council and its partner Registered Social Landlords.

The Housing Register allows us to register your application for social housing and assess your housing need. The Housing Register is maintained in accordance with the policies set out in the allocation scheme approved by the council.

We also provide help, support and advice to applicants who either wish to apply to go onto the register or are already on it.

How to join the housing register

  1. You will need to complete an application form
  2. There are some applicants who may be excluded from joining the register though (See below)

If you are applying for housing within Blaby you will be asked to provide a lot of information with your application form, the reason we ask for all the information is to enable us to assess your application and determine those applicants who are in the greatest housing need.

Those applicants who have a medical condition and their housing conditions are contributing to the deterioration of that condition can be awarded a higher priority because of this. You will need to complete the medical form above.

Remember your current housing must be contributing to the deterioration of your condition.

If you are a home owner we will ask you to complete the financial assessment form above. The reason why we ask for this information is to assess whether you have the means to purchase alternative accommodation within the district. Although we do not exclude home owners from our housing register they are given a low priority over other applicants who do not have the means to satisfy their own housing need.

You must send all the requested information to us with your application form, if we do not receive the information we will give you the opportunity to provide it within 14 days, if we still do not receive it we will be unable to process your application.
