Unauthorised Occupation

If someone has no legal permission to occupy one of our properties then we will take legal action to evict them immediately.

Response to notification of squatters:
• Inform the squatters that BDC own the property
• Ask them when they accessed the premises
• Ask them why they are in the property
• Inform them they have no legal rights to occupy the premises
• Request that they leave immediately
• If they refuse to leave as requested, require them to identify themselves
• Ask them if any other persons are in occupation
• Inform them that possession proceedings will begin immediately
• Refer them on for housing advice
