Further information
Garden waste collections are made fortnightly during Summer (March to October) and monthly from November to February.
The Council will make arrangements to collect and return bins for residents who are elderly or have a disability in the same way that we do for the other waste services.
We now have over 17,000 garden waste bins in the district and last year we diverted above 5100 tonnes of garden waste from landfill.
You can take part in our garden waste collection by either renting a garden bin or buying special degradable Blaby District Council garden waste bags.
Garden bins
There are two different sized garden bins available. You can rent at a cost (from 1st April 2011 to 31st March 2012):
- a 140ltr bin for £14.40 per year, or
- a 240ltr bin for £20.40 per year
If you pay for your garden bin by annual invoice, set up a direct debit and save yourself some money – get your bin at last year’s price. Further details of this offer will be included in your next invoice.
Degradable garden bags
The special bags are available from local shops and post offices. The bags should only be put out for collection on the special garden waste collection days.
- Degradable bags - £4.00 for 3 bags
