Sulphur Dioxide - Monitoring

Blaby District Council does not currently carry out monitoring for Sulphur Dioxide. There have been no AQMA’s declared on the basis of S02 because:

  • There are no new relevant industrial sources
  • There are no industrial sources with substantially increased emissions
  • No areas exist where there are more than 100 houses burning solid fuel as their main fuel per 500x500m area
  • No fuel oil burners are present in the district
  • There are no shipping movements within the district
  • There are no more than two occasions a day when there might be a locomotive stationary with its engine running for 15 minutes or more.

As this information shows there is no need for a detailed assessment for sulphur dioxide, Blaby District Council does not carry out any monitoring.
