Monitoring Data from the Air Quality Monitoring Station
The Council uses Automated Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS) to continuously sample the air in order to detect the
contamination of pollutants which may be present. This equipment enables us to identify trends and the occasional peaks in
the pattern of air pollution, and complements the less sophisticated air pollution monitoring which has been undertaken in
the District for many years.
Blaby currently has three monitoring stations. Two of these monitor nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, the other
measures nitrogen dioxide.
The AQMS are currently located at Sandhill Drive, Enderby, Sharnford and Kingsway, Braunstone Town. It is our intention
to leave these monitors in these locations for the foreseeable future in order to collect some chunks of data. We currently
have two hired stations, these are monitoring at the B4114, Enderby and Leicester Road, Glen Parva.
