Air Quality Management Areas

Summary

Blaby District Council currently has five distinct areas of the district where air quality has been predicted to exceed the objective for Nitrogen Dioxide and are referred to as Air Quality Management Areas (AQMA).

Further Information

AQMA 1

AQMA 2

AQMA 3

AQMA 4A / 4B

AQMA 5

What will happen to areas declared as Air Quality Management Areas?

They will be subjected to more detailed pollution monitoring (called stage 4) to check the current levels of pollution and verify the accuracy of our predictions. Within 18 months an Action Plan will be produced which will set out steps to reduce the level of Nitrogen Dioxide in the areas. This plan is likely to include land use planning controls and transport management measures. The results from further monitoring, and the Action Plans, will also be subject to further consultation.
