Further information
Squirrel Control: Cage traps are the most successful way of controlling the grey squirrel. It is an offence to release grey squirrels back into the wild once they have been trapped, therefore they must be killed humanely. If you have squirrels in your roof space a single trap is the most successful if there are only a small number. If there are a lot of squirrels in the roof space then a number of cage traps will be the most successful. Putting maize in the traps will attract the squirrels more successfully. Proofing of properties e.g. cutting back overhanging trees, blocking obvious access points, coating drainpipes that squirrels can climb up with anti-climbing paint will all help with squirrel control.
