Further information
House Mice are brown to grey in colour with a lighter underside; they have large ears and small eyes. The tail is slightly smaller than their body length. Signs of mouse activity include holes, droppings, runs, smear marks, damage, tracks, nests and dead and live rodents. A further characteristic is smell. In domestic situations, areas favoured by mice are food storage and preparation areas such as kitchens and pantries, airing cupboards, sub floor areas and baths in bathrooms and loft areas are also favoured areas. They can cause damage to properties by gnawing through cables, wood work and personal belongings. They can fit through the smallest of holes. Mice will drink water if available but can survive on food with a moisture content of 15%.
Mice are particularly difficult to control because of the rate at which they breed and are able to colonise new areas. Ensure that your premises are in good repair and food is not left around the house or garden. This will help discourage mice into your garden and property.
