Dog Registration & Micro-Chipping Service

Blaby Dog Wardens offer a micro-chipping service to members of the public, even if you do not live within the boundaries of Blaby District.

The cost of this service is currently £20.00

The service is carried out at our main Council offices at Desford Road, Narborough, normally one morning per week.
Home visits can occasionally be accommodated, although these must be confined within the Blaby District.

A micro-chip is a permanent method of identification for animals. In dogs the chip, which is the size of a grain of rice, is implanted in between the dogs shoulder blades. It requires no anaesthetic and in most dogs the procedure is over in a few minutes.

Their are many advantages to having your dog micro-chipped which include:-

  • Proof of Ownership
If your dog is lost or stolen you are able to provide proof of ownership as it will be registered at your address.
  • Veterinary Treatment
If your dog is involved in a road traffic accident whilst straying and requires treatment, a veterinary practice is only required to carry out basic first aid if owners details are unavailable.
However, if your dog is scanned and found to be micro-chipped the veterinary practice is likely to provide in depth medical treatment whilst you are being contacted, possibly saving your dogs life.
  • Peace of Mind
If your dog is found to be lost or stolen and is taken to an Animal rescue centre, Police station or Local Authority, the dog will be scanned and if found to be micro-chipped your details will be retrieved enabling you to be reunited.
